Cesare De Michelis (1943, Dolo, Venezia) is professor emeritus at the University of Padova and President of Marsilio Editori. He is editor in chief of «Studi Novecenteschi» periodical and presides over Carlo Goldoni national edition. He is also writer at Corriere del Veneto and Il Sole 24 Ore newspapers.
Among his most significant works: Letterati e scrittori nel Settecento veneziano (1979), Contraddizioni nel Decameron (1984), Fiori di carta (1990), Goldoni nostro contemporaneo (2008), Moderno antimoderno (2010, Brancati-Zafferana Prize, 2010), «Io nacqui veneziano e morrò per grazia di Dio Italiano», Ritratto di Ippolito Nievo (2012). He published also essays in miscellanies and in periodicals and he edited publications about Stuparich, Gallian, Pannunzio, Vittorini e Berto.
