Luigi Filetici
Architect and Photographer

Born in Rome. After graduating in Architecture at “La Sapienza” University in Rome he completed several specialist courses before becoming a professional architect and architectural photographer.
Throughout the 1990s he completed the series of photographic studies: Architettura provinciale roman tardoantica e paleocristiana in Siria e nell’antica Arabia Petrea; La piramide di Caia Cestio; Piazza Augusto Imperatore a Roma; Il litorale di Anzio e gli edifici del primo Novecento; Architetture Engadinesi.
At the same time he began contributing to important journals in the field and with a number of architecture and design practices and with artists in addition to teaching at “La Sapienza” University in Rome and the Milan Politecnico.
Filetici has always preferred black and white to captare urban and environmental transformations. His work has appeared in severa important publications and exhibitions. The publications include: Guida ai quartieri romani INA Casa, edizioni Gangemi, Roma 2002; I mercati di Traiano, edizioni Silvana Editoriale, Milano 2003; MOCKBAXXI, edizioni Actar, Barcellona 2005; I Mercati di Traiano a Roma, edizioni Gangemi, Roma 2006; Andrea Giunti, architetture reali, a cura di Luigi Filetici e Valentina Piscitelli, edizioni Skira, Milano 2007.
The exhibitions in which his work has appeared include: 2001 Infrastrutture e paesaggio: Il delta del Po, Milano; 2002 Città, architettura, edilizia pubblica. 2002 Il piano INA Casa 1949-1963, MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Arts, Rome; 2003 Forum Tevere Casa dell’Architettura, Rome; 2004 Roma verso il Mediterraneo, Ostia; 2005 MOCKBAXXI, La Triennale di Milano and Schusev State Museum of Architecture, Moscow.
Between 2006 and 2008 the exhibition I Mercati di Traiano produced by the Foreign Affairs Ministry was shown in Bucharest, Belgrade, Krakow, Warshaw, Cologne, Aarhus, Hamburg, Moscow and Ivanovo.
